Just finished setting up this journal. Recently becoming less internet inclined I made this crazy radical move to set up this thing — the blog.  I now feel so connected and am constantly yearning to yap incessantly about my life to the masses. However, as much I contribute to this thing which is yet to be seen, I hope I do stay diligent enough to chronicle this trip as much as possible so my friends and family can stay connected.  These blog things seem to make more work for myself than I care to deal with but at the same time I do hope to create a nice journal of my travels — so I can remember them for when I write my memoirs.

Another purpose to this journal is to provide relevant information to anyone who’s got some hair brained scheme of doing some extended traveling for themselves.  There obviously is a lot of planning and preparing that goes into leaving for a year or longer and I’ve found that a lot of good information has been served up through the internets and webs of things so my plan is to have this journal act as a comprehensive source of documentation for a trip around the world.
