Another early morning and bus travel. All day bus travel. Back to Saigon. Concluding that I did eat something bad. Stomach is churning. Basically go through all the motions in reverse. Get to Saigon. Get all the stuff together for the next bus ride at 7:30 in the morning. Yeah! Pass out. Get out. Make tea. Tylenol PM. Pass out.

Floating village. Not market, entire village. This river really provides it all. Bright painted window trim, doors and laundry hanging on the deck. Dogs even. They must feel terribly trapped. They seem cool with it. Fish are raised below these homes. Then stilted homes. High, high slits. Teeny stilted walkways to the houses. Imagine running down that with groceries. Wowzaaaaa!
Walk up Sam Mountain. Monastery, monks hanging about. Beautiful views. Cambodia in the distance. Long bus ride back. Colin was crabby with a sore stomach. I finished my book. It was great – Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. Grab some beers with Joe and Chloe in Saigon, after having a great Vietnamese sandwich. Joe is also ill. Chloe and I maintain and talk travel and stupid weddings. Go to bed for early bus…..another bus.
I am really glad we did a trip down to the delta. It was a mind opening glimpse into the life of the locals on the river. The river that keeps them going, literally. Rural life, pre-city, the life that provides many of the goods to be sold the city. The people here are incredibly open and amiable. Good hearted, good natured, hard working and curious. Full of smiles. I am goo goo for Vietnam thus far. I am grateful we came south before going north and I would highly recommend it for other travelers.
