Arriving in Queenstown the weather was a few degrees cooler than Lake Tekapu and still rainy. First night in grabbed a couple beers at The Buffalo Club and slept in the campervan parked on the side of what we thought was a good looking piece of road. What we woke up to was a sharp rapping on the windows at 8:00 am to find out that the had 5 mins to move or we’d be fined $400. Good Morning Queenstown! After looking around we realized we were parked on one of the busiest streets in the town. Rain let up for a few hours so we walked around town and checked out the harbor.

Yay Queenstown!! It’s a a cool little city, about 12,000 people, right on Lake Wakatipu (another body of water a bright shade of blue making it look like the ocean) with all the homes going right up the mountainside. Completely surrounded by sweet mountains…well, we couldn’t see them right away due to the rain clouds, but once those cleared a bit we saw the stunning peaks of The Remarkables - the mountain range. Our second day it cleared up a bit so we could hit the town, it’s totally walkable which is nice, although it’s just above freezing, so ya know, brrrrrrrrrrrrr!! We found a sweet cafe, Vudu, which we have been to everyday, it’s our local hang with good coffee and fresh juices. So coffee, yeah, it’s not just stright up brewed like in the States, you have to specify how you want it, it’s kinda weird, but I have found the Flat White to be my fav choice. It’s basically a cappucino, but if you tell them that they will disagree!
