Sleep Issues March 12th, 2010

Alix says:
For being out in the middle of nowhere it’s rather loud and that has compromised my night of sleep.

10:00pm – I fall into a deep state of exhausted sleep. No earplugs.

2:30am – A bunch of drunk girls sit outside, conveniently near our open window, and talk for ages about drunk shit and stumble around. Earplugs are installed. Someone in our dorm closes the window.

3:00am – Guy in our dorm comes in, also drunk, and flicks the main lights on and off a few times.

3:30am – Previously mentioned guy begins to snore so loudly it’s like a nasal orchestra in our dorm. I try to make a noise to jar him from his phlegm concerto, but that does not work. Guy below me shakes his bed and the music stops.

3:52am – Repeat activities of 3:30am.

6:00am – Water pump begins to rumble and steadily is turned on and off by people getting up and needing to pee, brush their teeth or shower. I loathe this water pump.

7:00am – My alarm goes off even though my intentions were to sleep in today and not go for an early hike. At this point I may as well though.

7:18am – Guy below me wakes up and showers…the water pump is going to town.

8:00am – I wake up to sit here and write this damn blog. Fortunately the sun is shining and I have a grand view of the mountains. But I would have preferred a bit more sleep.

So much for peace and quiet in nature.
