Te Anau…last stop May 23rd, 2009

Alix says:
In an effort to find the sun and carry on our merry journey, we headed out of Queenstown south to Te Anau, known as the “Gateway to Fiordland”…..yes well, that it is, but better weather it did not have. We had planned to do 2 treks in the mountains, but we bailed on those hopes when we heard the trails consisted of knee deep snow and waist deep water at some points – ICK!!! So we settled on a lovely day hike around Lake Te Anau. The forest was super green and lush and dense, like being in a cold rainforest. It was fantastic to at least get out and stretch the ole legs and take in some scenery.

Alas it was at this point that me made the bold decision to venture no further and change our tickets to head out to Australia early. We had high hopes for NZ, which I am sure will be met, on a future journey!! **See this means we get to go back in summer – yay!
