Barely know how to drive let alone on the opposite side of the road. Managed to go 8 days through cities, highways, rain, night, up mountains and along cliffs. Last day, and I’m feeling great barreling down the highway at 126 km / hr. Undercover cop pulls me over says he had me clocked twice at 118 and 126 saying he had to pull me over cause I sped up. Blah Blah Blah. “On holiday”, ” Never been pulled over before in New Zealand”, “From now on keep it around 100 km…Have a nice day”. Love that last bit — “Have a nice day”. What am I suppose to say to that, “Thank you”.
Guy was nice enough to mark it only 10 over instead of 15 which would have made the fine even higher so, uh, “Thank you”……i guess. F#@!cking guy.

Oh yeah BTW….when we pulled into Tekapu we had the gas light on…which had been on for about 15km and we were semi-freakin’ cuz it was a pitch black blizzard outside at 7pm….but then we saw the lights of the weeeeee town, save jebus we had made it!!!! I did a quick hula hoop effort in my pj’s once the snow started to melt down……then it was off to Oz.
